Bowman Lake Campground

One of the most scenic campgrounds ive found. Just please be warned when it warms up ticks are crazy high in abundance. We kept finding them on us and warned people walking into the woods to get spray. Please watch out. Walk was 7-9minutes from campsite. Had one hill that would not work for most wagons. Trail is small so single file is needed. This place was magical, but probably will never return.

Terrible terrible. No services, no loud neighbors, no tv, no showers, no overpriced firewood, no 6-month in advance reservations, no dump station, why would anyone come here?! ;)

Only camp here if you want peace, quiet, and access to a gorgeous lake. Perfect spot to disperse camp while hiking the nct. Will definitely be back. Don’t tell anyone else about this great place 😉

Beautiful slice of nature to camp at that's not too far from society but far enough to be able to enjoy all it has to offer. Be warned about the ticks though; they are plentiful and virulent. Bring bug spray and tuck your clothes so you dont get bit like i did.

The Bowman Lake Campground is located inside the Manistee National Forest, off of West 56th Street via Forest Road 6903. From the parking lot, it's a roughly 1/2 mile hike down to the campground. The four sites are located next to Bowman Lake and connected to the North Country Trail. Each of the sites were easily reached and offered some amount of privacy and even lake access. We saw several sites which were taken by early afternoon and ran into some very friendly campers who were tubing on the lake. Would recommend this campground for backpackers and those who pack light. This is a USFS campground and thus has no fees.
