Boulder Lake Campground

We were officially in bear country. We had bear boxes at campsite. We were right next to some beautiful trails. Stayed here 4 nights. Met some great people. We hiked boulder canyon trail together. I hiked up to blueberry lake with pearl. It was beautiful but almost a mile and a half up the mountain. Only .2 down to the lake. Totally worth it. There's a short cut from the campground which probably saves 1/4 mile. Would love to come back.

It's a lovely trailhead. One thing I will say and to be aware of it does start much lower than say big sandy. I went to middle fork lake via this trailhead and it was about 22 miles with 3k feet of elevation. With that in mind I didn't see a soul for the first 4 days so it's an incredibly pretty trail head and a great gateway to the winds. Just be prepared for some tougher terrain and some trails with dead falls that haven't been cleared.

You have to pack in clean water. No cell service. Some sites are right by the river; the aspens and sound of water sing you to sleep. Lots of mice and snakes. Not as crowded as Fremont or Half Moon.

Peaceful, quiet, green, little sanctuary in the middle of the Wyoming high desert plains.

this is NOT the campground, it is across the creek over a bridge. the real camp is rough but 5 stars. in this aerial the lake is really really really low.
