Bluegreen Vacations Shenandoah Crossing, an Ascend Collection Resort

My husband and needed to unplug for the holiday weekend. We stayed in cabin 15. It was gorgeous. It smelled good. The cabin was clean and definitely NOT a three star hotel. The appliances were up-to-date stainless steel. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. The “cherry on top” for the trip was Sarah! She was working the front desk. She took our care and stay personality. She was both patient and knowledgeable. She was really busy but treated each guest before and after us with the same care. The accommodation and service will bring us and now my whole family back a million times!

A Pretty Property||We visited this now Hilton/Blue Green resort on a deal with Choice Hotels (which they have since separated from). There is a lot to recommend this resort: beautiful landscaping, choice of stay options including the Lodge, yurts and cabins, horses to ride, pools to swim in and friendly service. An on site restaurant at the lodge had good food. The Shenandoah Skyline Drive is an easy drive to reach. We encountered disappointments though during our stay. These included: the indoor pool area was closed. Our Lodge room was small with no chair or table. The room overlooked the front entrance and needed privacy sheers to let in light and give some privacy during the day. The management needs to pay attention to the little things like making sure the coffee stand is well stocked

The room we got smelled so bad. It was so musty smelling that it literally woke me up. The bed sheets and pillows smelled musty as well. It was coming from the HVAC unit. We had to turn it off the second night. Then it got so hot in the room. We got up and left around 2:30 am. The indoor pool and hot were closed as well. Just a horrible evening for me and my husband. I think there is mold in the unit and so does my husband who is a licensed HVAC technician. It can cause serious respiratory problems.

We have been traveling there every year since 2020. Most recently, we noticed the really nice coffee machine in the lobby was no longer there. The ambiguous "resort fee" of $25/day seems excessive and the fact there was some sort of wifi ongoing maintenance overhaul going on and we weren't able to access wifi in our cabin 5 of the 7 days and there used to be an indoor pool and that is gone now. The staff are nice and the scenery beautiful, but with the wifi issue and the resort fee, it definitely dampens my enthusiasm for the place.

Property was great, cabins were small, we were in a 2 bedroom. 33, and it was okay. I was told parking & a sidewalk need a special request on booking so it was a hike up to the cabin we rented. Security saw us lost & helped us out thank goodness. Staff was kind & other than broken blinds our stay for a week was nice. The grounds are beautiful. Our first time there & we would go back. Maybe try for the 3 bedroom. 2 bedroom is small, And there's no washer and dryer in the unit however there is a free washer and dryer on site.
