I was at first reluctant to stay here, or in Alma in general. There is only one street there, technically, and it's the main drag (Highway 35, or the Great River Road as they call it), meaning all the traffic passes through it, and there is no escape from the noise and pollution. However, I needed to be in the area, and didn't want to drive to and from Winona, Minnesota. I chose this place randomly - it was available on AirB&B or Bookings.com (I don't remember now). Boy, what a pleasant surprise. Somehow I managed to hit the jackpot. The room was small, but very comfortable. The bathroom was huge, and could be used for who knows what. The separate kitchen stocked with everything one may need. I don't know if there was anyone else staying there at the same time, but the cute little garden w

A very excellent choice of Mid-Westen Inns. The owners helped with the planing and coordinated a great stay. We enjoyed the historic photos and knowledge of the small town. The beds and rooms were clean and comforting The owners also told us a great local hot spot bar “The Red Ram”. Along with great hunting and fishing tips.

A group of us (9 women 40 something aged) stayed there for one night. I don't know how none of these reviews mention the train. Between midnight and 5:00 a.m. on a Saturday night The train came through blowing its whistle every half hour almost 10 times I think. Just across the street. Even though the bed was comfortable it was a horrible night of sleep due to the disruption of the train. That has more to do with the location than the facility but still I think it should be noted for anyone considering Alma WI We had the whole building to ourselves but the common area is wooden chairs around a long table not too comfy to sit on and the table felt flimsy. We had a group of 9 women. 6 of us had to share full size beds and one had to sleep on a fold-out couch which was not comfortable. The ro

Had a fabulous experience at the blue door inn. Very quaint little spot. Arrived in town after being on the bikes all day and was quickly greeted by Kathy who showed us around, answered all our questions and gave us the history on our rooms and the building. Everything was clean and comfy. Perfect night to sit in the lovely garden and have a glass of wine. The next morning breakfast was amazing - would highly recommend and will definitely stay again if ever in the area.

We enjoyed our stay at the Blue Door for the most part. It is a beautiful old building, our first floor handicapped room had a great walk-in shower. The room was very clean and very pleasant. Just be sure to take a two-step stool in order to get in the bed if you are short like me! The bed was comfortable once I managed to climb in. A small step stool was provided, but it wasn't very high and was kind of shaky. We were there two week nights, so the ad said that a continental breakfast would be provided including home made muffins, fruit, etc. The first morning we went to the breakfast room, our hostess was not around at all. She had left a bowl of pancake batter and griddle as well as some really good muffins. So, I made the pancakes and we hunted up the things we needed. The n
