Black Bear Cabins

This was our second time staying at the cabins. The cabins were fantastic as usual - so clean and cozy and come with everything you need. I also really appreciated their pandemic procedures. They made sure that check-in was easy and their entire staff were conscientious of safety protocols. If you need a getaway but are worried of catching/spreading the virus, this is the best way to get away from home for a bit. Thank you so much!

We’ve stayed at the same cabin for the past 19 years. About six years ago, it was bought by the Gateway Lodge people. It immediately became less personal. Every year, it has become a less pleasant stay. Over the past five years, 2-3 of the stove elements have not worked, even though we informed them of the issue every year. The same is true of the deck furniture. It’s old and dilapidated. They did away with the week-stay discount, and have made the mind boggling decision to not rent their cabins on Sunday or Monday. How does a vacation resort not allow for weekend stays? We’ve finally decided to look elsewhere, and quickly found a much nicer log cabin, for about 20% less money.

The cabin was very clean and well appointed. Beds were very comfortable. Views were spectacular. Lots to do in the area. We opted for the fireplace wood option. Glad we did. Roaring fire and gently falling snow helped make the weekend. The staff was very helpful. Dinner at the lodge was great. We will be back.

We stayed for a week last year, loved it so much that we tried to stay again this year, but we waited too long to schedule and all the cabins were booked - we definitely will be trying to book sooner next year. Even though we missed booking the cabin we were sure to stop in and eat at the restaurant a few times while we were in the area. The food is absolutely the best, the staff always so warm and friendly, the property beautiful. We love it there

Stayed here for two nights for a birthday getaway and wanted to do some hiking in the snow . ||Size of the cabin was nice and the view was very pretty . Nice deck on the back with a picnic table. Obviously we didn’t use it due to the fact it was February. Great location for hiking, canoeing in any season. The cabin is fairly dated. In fact, there was an area that you walked over which you could tell that the sub-flooring was rather soft. There was a strong mildew smell throughout the cabin And this was my biggest complaint. For the $214 per night in off season, I was hoping for something a little better. The cabins are advertised as “rustic” cabins so perhaps I was wrong to think that these would be a grade above .
