Bitterroot River Lodge

What an exquisite property! The lodge is in the middle of a 425+ acre wildlife preserve on the edge of the Bitterroot River. Moose, deer, geese, birds and rabbits are just some of the wildlife we saw hanging out in their habitat. The accommodations were excellent. The food was excellent. The property is private and quiet. It proved to be an awesome space to reconnect with family and create memories. It was the most incredible place to relax and unwind.

This property is amazing and a must visit for a piece of Montana, Bitteroot Valley heaven. The location is truly perfect. We visited again for a fly fishing vacation and caught plenty of beautiful and large trout. They have done a first class remodel of whole lodge and it is top notch. There is the perfect mix of rustic wood finishes within the living areas and a new massive modern kitchen. Don is a fantastic host and will take care of you. I'm so jealous of the beauty of this property, but I really hope you have a chance to join in our love for Montana and this property specifically. Fyi I'm doing this review on my own, I wasn't asked to this and I'm not affiliated in any way with this Lodge!!

This property is absolutely beautiful and the service we received was highly personalized and perfect in all regards. We enjoyed scrumptious breakfasts! Our room (#7) in the lodge was accessible, perfectly appointed, and had everything we needed including a very comfortable bed. The view was over rolling lawn, through stately trees, to the Bitterroot River. We were able to use the comfortable common rooms in the evening for reading. While my husband spent the days fishing, I felt no need to ever leave the property. I felt as if I was in a park complete with walking trails, ponds, a river and the abundant wildlife it attracted. We'll be back!

35 years ago, this week, on June 29, 1988, I graduated from this place, when it was the FWL Outfitter and Guide School, operated by Fred Wright. I assume that the current operators of this lodge, purchased it after Mr. Wright retired & passed away. I had a great time while I was there. It doesn't look the main lodge has changed too much. I wish you had a photo of the students' bunkhouse. Another change, in Hamilton, that's disappointing is that the old Brass Rail Saloon is now a Feed Store. We spent almost every evening there.

A beautiful place on the Bitterroot River with large acreage, ponds, streams and the river winding through it. Lovely mountain views. This is a restful lovely place to stay. The main lodge has nice decor, a good library, and an interesting and helpful manager who also makes a great breakfast. The grounds are well maintained, the rooms are well constructed and clean, and there are lovely flowers. There are chairs right on the river where you can sit and drink your coffee and watch the river go by. It's a short distance from town, and has easy access to the main road, but when you are there you will feel like you are in the most beautiful part of Montana. It is quiet and away from it all-- the only noise is the sound of the river. Very reasonably priced for such a lovely place
