Birchwood Resort

We had amazing service and response from the owners the entire stay. Any question we had, we got an answer quickly and it was clear they were invested in making it an incredible experience and relaxing wonderful vacation for us. We added on four days with the pontoon and it was so easy and fun to do. Cabin 4 was remodeled so it was clean and nice, but also had the charm we were hoping for.

Very quiet place in a sleepy town. Rooms are spacious. However, little to no toiletries. No Towels. Outdoors is pitch dark at night.

Stayed here last week and rented #4 which we were told was a 5 Br (my son called to confirm) and the reason I paid up. Needless to say it has 4 Br and 2 futons. One in living room and one in a common area in the lower level. Unacceptable no privacy in that 'bedroom'. This cottage also barely accommodates 10 as there are only seating for 8 in the dining area, crowded in the living room. Insufficient coffee cups and no dressers for your clothing so you're living out of your suitcase. The interior is nice but the space does not work for 10 much less the 14 it supposedly sleeps. The sand beach is very nice but the swim area is weeded in about 10yrds from shore so swimming is not possible. As of July 2020, Birchwood is under new ownership and management and you can see the difference. Beautiful charming resort right on the water. Great fishing from the docks and the grandkids had fun on the beach. Nightly campfires and star gazing...Our unit was clean, had a new queen mattress.... which wasn't soft and mushy so we slept all night, new queen futon couch with up-north pattern. Best of all, we had a new Weber BBQ. Heard from maintenance crew the new owners were going to remodel the cabins inside and out. Looked great now.... can't wait until next year to see what they look like.

The beach and swimming areas are great, but our cabin does not at all match the high-end price we paid. We were told it would have central air, which it did not. The Lodge sleeps 14, but only has a table and chairs for 6. The master bath shower has no water pressure at all and makes a terribly loud noise when used. The kitchen update was started but not finished. There were no handles on the cabinets and the countertops don’t fit correctly. There was an unused bed frame just leaning against a wall in a bedroom. Some of the mattresses are very uncomfortable, and the bedding is cheap and doesn’t fit correctly. We didn’t even have a broom. The deck needs updating, but that space is nice. We called Hillers several times with issues, and got little to no response. We have been told that once t
