Birch Bend MotoLodge

What a gem! Tucked away just off the main road in Shelburne (a quick drive from Gorham), the Birch View Motor Lodge is charmingly rustic, with wood-paneled walls, wood furniture and animal-themed carvings hand-crafted by Dave, the owner, and a really nice setup both in the rooms and outside -- especially for a budget motel. We stayed in a king-size room with a kitchenette that was perfect for our needs, and Carole was a wonderful hostess. We'll be back for sure! Pro tip: as with most family-owned places, call instead of booking online!

A few months ago I was looking for a place to stay before hiking Mount Washington with my boyfriend and we were lucky enough to find this lodge! We were greeted like family upon arrival and chatted about our plans for the next day's hike. The room was bigger than I had expected (which was awesome) and everything was clean and so comfortable. The décor of our room left my heart wanting a cozy cabin of its own. We had a short stay here but it was lovely and only a 20 minute drive to the trailhead we chose. Hoping to visit again before the season is over!

We switched from another hotel which was awful... Carole and Dave were wonderful and quit accommodating. The room was clean, large and quiet. Having recently become new owners of this lodge they are working hard to make it feel like home. Thank you for being welcoming and we will definitely cone back!

it's close to north conway and jackson nh. quiet place and nice owners. my room was great. comfortable bed and clean. this place will be a great place to go when it's done. fire pit, picnic tables, they even put gas grills across the way from your rooms. i saw that they were working on horse shoe pits. love their dogs!

New owners here are working hard to make this a home away from home... we stayed in a king size room which was clean, quiet and comfortable. We love there dogs and will definitely return. Thank you Carole and Dave for being such great hosts! ||
