Big Bend Campground is a convenient and scenic spot if you’re looking to camp close to Moab, though it comes with a few trade-offs. There are 33 sites total split between the main riverside area and a smaller section across the highway with about 10 parking spots, each with a table and fire ring. The main loop has easy access to the Colorado River, which is the highlight here. We stayed in the upper loop, where the sites are pretty narrow and packed in tightly. There’s no shade, lots of wind exposure, and no trails directly from the campground. The views, though, are beautiful — wide open red rock all around. It’s $20 per night, with no water, no showers, and pit toilets. There’s also no host and no cell service (Verizon). The campground fills up reliably: on a weekday we grabbed the las
We stayed at upper Big bend and it was amazing, perfect we had camp spot number eight at the very end. The day before we left it poured rain. But luckily our campsite did not get washed out by the gush of water that came through the campsite. Beautiful sight.
First Come, First Served.|Great spot aong the river. Easy to get to boat launch. |Clean restrooms. |Loved being able to hear the river at night.|River was running quite quickly. Be careful when playing in the water!|Only about 20min from town withe great views.|We were here for 5 nights. Weekdays were not as busy. Will stay here again.
Group site A -Couldn't use ⅓ of under the pavilion when it rained cause it was a big huge puddle. The connected sidewalk drains right into under the pavilion. It rained most of the time we were there so it would have been nice to use the whole pavilion. Bathrooms were the cleanest pit toilets I have ever used! Great location, it has a bunch of trees, and the fireplace is nice and big. Have to bring your own water. No cell service.
Nice campground, not to be confused with Upper Big Bend campground about a mile north. Has a bit of road noise. These campgrounds often fill up fast due to their proximity to Moab.
