This could not have been a better experience! Just as all the other reviews say, there just are no words to describe the delightful hospitality, accommodations, breakfast...everything! Mary Betty and Ossie were so kind and friendly. We loved our stay here and will definitely recommend to anyone coming to eastern NC. We had the whole Kinston/Snow Hill experience. Hung out on the farm here at the inn for a few hours, then went downtown and had amazing oysters at the Boiler Room, toured Mother Earth Brewery, and then dinner at Chef and the Farmer. And topped it all off with an amazing breakfast at the inn. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Many thanks to Mary Betty and Ossie!

My husband and I had the most relaxing weekend getaway at the Benjamin Best Country Inn. If you are planning to dine at the Chef and the Farmer in Kinston (and you will need to overnight, as they only serve dinner), then this is THE place to stay! Rent the quiet carriage house (master bedroom, bath, sitting room and mini kitchen) and explore the nearby antique shops. Enjoy the serenity of being on a working farm and take advantage of hosts Mary Betty's and Ossie's knowledge of the attractions and history of Eastern North Carolina. The coffee bar and bountiful Southern breakfast are great treats (you won't need lunch). Lovely hosts and the carriage house was very cozy. The bed was very comfortable. We also enjoyed the biscuit making course. Elegant dining and delicious food. I should point out that the meals are incredibly expensive. $120 per steak dinner and that did not include wine. Also, its a farm in Greene county so expect a few flies. Cool event barn in the back. Interesting history of the house. I would recommend this as a relaxing and restful getaway.

The Benjamin W. Best Country Inn and Carriage House and owners Mary Betty and Ossie are quintessential southern charm! We stayed with another couple while attending a ballgame at East Carolina University and dinner at Chef and the Farmer. My husband is still raving about the wonderful country breakfast in Mary Betty and Ossie’s home each morning! It was delicious! I have to say it was the best bacon I have ever eaten! Mary Betty briefly joined us with her cup of coffee and shared the history of the area, the history of their home and it’s move to the current location, a working farm. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience true southern living! The only thing I would suggest is that Ossie change his allegiance from NCSU to East Carolina University! If there was a higher rating than "excellent," then Benjamin Best Carriage House wins by a country mile! Tastefully decorated, beautifully furnished for comfort and with a touch of elegance, the carriage house embodies Southern hospitality at its finest. Welcoming and warm, Mary Betty ad Ossie have created the ultimate Southern experience, complete with homemade biscuits (they really float off the breakfast plate) and locally ground grits to complement sumptuous egg creations, fresh fruit, locally made yogurt and granola and (their) farm raised pork sausage.
