5.12.25: Live off of Conkling Rd and wanted to explore and hike around at a different part of the lake. We checked out the tent site area of the campground and the boat ramp area. We did not camp overnight nor launch a boat. During this time of year, early spring, the scenery is nice and green and the weather is perfect--not too cold but not too hot either. Another big plus was, I hadn't seen any mosquitoes or wasps yet! Info signs were posted and are very helpful. Both areas are self-pay with envelopes you drop in the green box. Someone was kind enough to draw and post a map of the nearest cell service in the area, which is useful for emergency situations. It should be noted, tree hammocks aren't allowed here. I saw a big bathroom facility, however I didn't go in and explore. The tent si
Awesome campground! Stayed here for one night in early July. Definitely super beautiful. I really recommend taking the short hike down to the train tracks. Watch out for trains, but otherwise enjoy the beautiful bridge, and sunset if possible. The restrooms were pretty clean, the showers weren't the worst but also weren't the best. One huge minus was the bugs. Wasps were a little annoying while eating, but we're mostly gone when you put the food away. The biggest problem was the mosquitoes. They absolutely are you alive, no mercy. I am always the magnet for mosquitoes, but at this place they ate every one. No one could avoid 10+ bites. Other than the mosquitoes which were absolutely horrible, it was a great campground. The views were beautiful and decent restrooms made the stay overall wort
Well for starters the dam Well went dry. We were told of this issue. But there was only water 5 miles away. And i am pulling a 40 foot camper and it's not all that easy to pick up and move. So on top that the mosquitoes were so so BAD that it was impossible to go outside for anything ! ! I was really puzzled why the park didn't do anything to control them. I had no where else to park. Now don't get me wrong the park is absolutely beautiful place but when i was there it just wasn't possible to do. I guess June was not a good time to go.
We stayed for a night in mid-June. The RV sites were really nice. The mosquitoes were savage. It took about 20 minutes to locate our bug spray. In that time, were nearly carried away by the mosquitoes. The showers and flush toilets were closed for some reason so we had to use portapoties. The water was also under a boil order.
Great little camp ground. It is very quiet. Doesn't have a playground or anything like that, but does have amazing hiking trails. Good place for kids to bike.
