Great facilities with nice raised platforms for tents and relatively clean bathrooms and showers. Staff is friendly, but unfortunately not very effective at enforcing their own rules. Lots of partying campers with loud music that kinda ruin the experience for everyone. Quiet hours are not enforced, but even if the staff speaks to a camper, the second they leave the musics and noise is back on. If you are looking to camp with a large group of people then its not bad, just not a place where you can relax and unwind in nature.
Enjoyed my camping trip from the time arrived, 7/23 until I left, 7/26. Great interaction with staff beginning with the first phone call to the campground and throughout my stay. Spoke to Madison and Dan at the campground, and they were both friendly, polite and helpful.|My actual campsite was on a platform, which was new for me, considering I always had my tent on the ground. I was able to stake my tent and my canopy to the platform. You have your own fire pit bench, and parking spot. |There are restrooms, showers and outside sinks close by. As for activities, Lake Welch is within walking distance, for swimming & Harriman State Park is great exploring and hiking.|Recommendations: if you prefer quietness and seclusion, I would recommend campsites in the D & W section. I would also recommen
While camping at Beaver pond campsites, The adjacent Beach had a hiking marathon event that played loud music over a PA system from 5 am to 6 pm. The campsite apparently "didn't know" about this. But the state of NY requires a permit to be obtained. They had plenty of time to notify campers of this, but chose not to do that. What was supposed to be a day to disconnect from the daily distractions from the week turned into a battle for my sanity. Loud music for 12 hours in what's supposed to be a serene atmosphere is absolutely absurd. Both the campsite and the beach failed its patrons.
Been coming here for years but after this weekend, we wont be coming back. Its gotten worse and worse the last few times. This weekend we had the loudest group next to us. Dirty music all day and extremely loud talking until midnight. We have 3 small children. The campers only beach was closed so we had to go to the main beach area that had only a couple of lifeguards so everyone was pack in like sardines. The beach was 90% of the reason we would come here. We wont be going back any longer
When we first got here, we can already smell the burning, and it’s constantly burning from all campsites. These campsites are extremely close to each other, I felt like I was in a community park. It’s silent time after 10pm. But I. The early morning like 6am you can hear the music played loud, people in the mic speaking loud. Also, the burning started from again. Day by day, you just can’t get to smell fresh air. Very bad.
