Bear Creek Inn Gatlinburg, TN

The Good: The balcony offered a beautiful view of the Roaring Fork River flowing below, and we were lucky enough to spot bears walking along the creek on several days. The mattress was comfortable, and the rooms were spacious with plenty of room to relax. It's also an easy walk down the hill to reach downtown, which was very convenient. The Bad: The pillows were terrible—flat and uncomfortable. You'd honestly be better off rolling up a towel. The Worst: Housekeeping was virtually non-existent. During our entire week-long stay, the trash in our room was never taken out—we had to handle it ourselves. I had to go to the office at least three times just to get clean towels. Ok, although your room will be just a "regular hotel room" atmosphere, rest assured that you'll have shower gel, shampoo, hand soap, clean towels, good pillows, and a comfy bed. You will also have a balcony that overlooks a lovely creek and you can count on seeing at least one bear traversing said creek, just meandering along looking, presumably, for a snack. But be aware, that said bear(s) may also traverse the parking lot and outdoor stairwell, so use your door's peephole, especially in the evening hours! It's fascinating to see though! And this hotel is close to all the things - some people could probably walk to "all the things" from here (we didn't because we're old with bad knees and at least one of us is WAY out of shape...). Positive: Love the creek view and colored lights on ten creek at night. Good downtown location. Overall the lower rooms cost seemed fair for this accommodation. Negative: Room needs a good thorough cleaning. Both body wash and shampoo containers were empty.

Beds were not made, floor was dirty, the woman who checked me in left immediately after I went to my room. When I left 15 minutes later the door was locked so I could not talk to any one about the room. The bed sheets were rolled up on a chair on the side, the room was dark and dingy and the scene out back had boarded up houses. Elevator was not working either and didn’t seem like it would be fixed any time soon. The shower looked clean and so did the sink but that’s the only plus I saw. I would not recommend even for a single night.

We booked our reservation 2 months prior for our arrival on 10/18/25. Our plane was delayed about 45 mins so we tried to call the hotel around 9PM. The phone is disconnected, when we arrive at 10:00 pm another guest informed us the front desk left at around 9pm. No key was left and no way to contact anyone. We were left to sleep in the car as no hotels had any vacancy. This is unacceptable, there is no accountability by the hotel, no customer service. We will dispute the charges when we get back home. Book at your own discretion.
