Beach Plum Inn & Restauraunt

Probably used to be a gem, but it is now more than a little bit tired and worn. Rooms are serviceable but many broken & missing items (shades, AC units, TV, kitchen utensils, lights, etc...). Furniture is clean-ish but worn and stained. No wifi in the room - at least not functional wifi. The continental "breakfast" leaves you needing to drive to find a real breakfast somewhere else. Scones from a box mix, supermarket bagels, a basket of dry muffins....that's it, but not enough of it (they run out). Fitness "center" is an elliptical machine in a small room. And some free weights. Staff is neither pleasant nor rude. Not helpful and not welcoming. They all looked pretty unhappy to be there. The whole place (Beach Plum and sister Menemsha Inn) is in need of some love and tenderness

Menemsha Inn is magical. Away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the island lies this absolute gem. No frills or fancy offerings, just simple elegance where peace and quiet is at a premium along with breathtaking sunsets, lovely grounds and wholesome family fun. Enjoy the complimentary breakfast at the Beach Plum and walk the path down to the beach to enjoy the crystal clear ocean. Play corn hole set up on the grounds among the lovely blue hydrangeas or enjoy a game of tennis. Again, not fancy but wonderfully simple where the staff is extremely responsive to your needs but gives you space respecting your privacy.

Beach Plum Inn is a very quiet inn with rooms above the main building and cottages skattered about. You can walk to a beach but when we were there the pilings were broken and water everywhere so you had to turn back. It was never fixed while we were there. Continental breakfast needs improvement and the ants on the sconces were a turn off in the am. However, we had the perfect room with a view to Menemsha Beach. If you like the quiet side of the island this fits the bill. We do plan on returning.

We have been patrons of the Inn’s for over 15 years in the past. We recently returned after a hiatus of some 10 years. It is with a heavy heart I share this recent experience when compared to our past stays. | The location remains spectacular with a view of Menamsha. However the Beach Plum is a deteriorating shadow of its former self. The restaurant, which was wonderful, is closed. The friendly staff deserves recognition and thanks, but not the management. We were declined a late check out of our single room even though the turnover time would’ve been three hours before any new guests arrived. |The property is extremely tired suffering from lack of maintenance. This is such a lovely property! We stayed in the Seabreeze cottage and it was so comfortable and sweet. We had four adults and two children and between the king sized bed and pullout sofa (which was surprisingly comfortable) we all had enough room. The internet isn’t very good which was mostly fine for our vacation since we weren’t looking to work but it did make looking up things to do and ordering Ubers challenging. The property is so sweet and has a lovely view of the ocean though you’ll likely want to walk down to Menemsha beach for at least one sunset. The staff was courteous and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again!
