Baymont by Wyndham Mandan Bismarck Area

We traveled about two hours to stay here for a youth basketball tournament and were extremely disappointed. I paid roughly $170 for a single Saturday night, which felt wildly overpriced given the condition of the property. The hotel was very run-down and looked nothing like the photos online. The pool area was dirty and freezing cold, and our room had the heat set to 86 degrees but was still so cold there was ice inside the room. The in-wall heater/AC unit barely worked. There was dog hair all over the beds, the room smelled musty and old, and there were multiple holes in the walls. While I did not see bed bugs, the overall cleanliness left me feeling uncomfortable and dirty after the stay. The elevator felt unsafe, to the point my kids were scared to use it. Positive: The price is right when traveling on a budget. The breakfast was great. Rooms not to bad. Beds a little to stiff for me but not bad. Good shower. Negative: Checking in took too long. When your tired and just want to lay down, should take so long.

The Hotel is in pretty rough shape, it is extremely dated, and needs a face lift. Paint is peeling on the outside of the building, the rooms are not updated, the towels and wash clothes can have stains on them, they claim no smoking, but you can smell cannabis coming from some of the rooms, the carpeting is torn in parts of the 3rd floor hallway. The AC units in some rooms are loud and clanky, the cable boxes are finicky, and last, the beds are pretty stiff, not a bad thing if you prefer a hard bed. On the plus side, the Restaurant that is part of the hotel is pretty good.

Pet friendly and reasonable pet rate add on! Super nice receptionist when I called directly to get a room, very nice check in and check out at the front desk, adequate free breakfast, nothing fancy, no frills. The beds were moderately comfortable, very nicely made up, clean sheets. The room was quite dusty. it’s an old hotel with old decor, the tub is too small to take a bath in, the shower curtain hangs at about 5 foot. There’s low water pressure but sufficient to shower. The facility itself, the hallways, etc. are quite dirty. Looks to have a fun pool if you have kids, big slide! My expectations were not high. I was looking for a pet friendly, decent place for minimal $$. It was worth it.

I've stayed at a lot of hotels, and this room had, BY FAR, the absolute worst mattress I've ever had the displeasure of sleeping on. I'm not joking when I say that sleeping on truck tires during my time back in the USMC was more comfortable than the abomination this hotel chose to call a "mattress". The hotel is also close to the highway, and it was so lovely being woken up to the sounds of semi truck compression brakes all through the night. The entire property badly needs a refresh, as everything looks dirty, dingy, and dated. If you can, I'd avoid this place. Your spine will thank you for staying anywhere else.
