Barstow / Calico KOA Holiday

All level gravel roads and sites. Nice sandy dog park. Lots of different types of sites. Some had gated area, some shady, full hookups or partial hookups, also tent sites and cabins. Nice big laundry room, but only 1/3 of machines working. Nice game room and playground. Pool not open when we were there, but looked nice.

We stayed here for 4 nights at a patio sight. We loved the double site, paver patio, patio cover, hammocks and fire pit. We went for off roading and the ghost town so the location was great. The campground bathrooms were extremely clean and well heated for a November camping trip. The staff was friendly and helpful. The camp store was well stocked and reasonably priced for a convenience store. The whole campground is gravely which was great for the rainy start to our trip. I found the experience to better than our previous trip to the county campground. The only downside is the freeway noise but that would not stop us from camping here again. My youngest daughter loved the playground. Overall one of the best KOA’s I’ve stayed at:

Easy location, on/off the freeway. Nice views of the buttes, clean bathrooms and campground. Great dog play area. They have a store if you forgot anything. Old reviews were less favorable but they are under new management and so don't hesitate to stay here!

As a solo adventurer safety, comfort, aha moments are all very important. KOA/Calico covered every single one. The one thing that has me coming back over and over is also the excellent customer service. Amanda is incredible, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Amber is also very professional and funny and friendly. Dale and Eieden get you taken care of on any issue you may encounter and so very helpful. Great location to ride your side by side or dirt bikes. Or just to get off the highway and rest your legs for the night. Pet friendly sites offered aswell. Staff always try to help to the best of their abilities.
