Avon Old Farms Hotel

Hmmm. I noticed that my completely legitimate 1-star review was removed. By whom, I ponder? Google algorithm or persistent attempt by ownership? Look at all of my 180+ reviews and you'll quickly determine I leave scant negative reviews. At this hotel I could not restrain myself. When we checked in, the first room had a large insect on the bedside lamp and the bed was broken and caved in on the front left side. We requested a second room and, unbelievably there was streaked feces on the toilet seat. I also noticed the rooms had de-humidifiers running and was full of water. Seems like they have a moisture problem in the building. The rooms are terribly dated and needed a complete refurbishment about 25 years ago. Beware of jammed on fees above your room rate. Let's see how long this honest

Positive: Location and reputation Negative: I was in an outdated room. Very small TV, shower did not drain, shades needed to be open to allow heater to work. Bathroom fan non operable. Breakfast buffet lacked fresh fruit, very sparse. If you can’t make it great, don’t do it at all. Terrible!

Reserved three rooms for a family event. All very nice! Comfortable beds, comfortable atmosphere. Easy to regulate the room temperature. Very nice breakfast which was included in the price. All of the staff very helpful, thanks so much!

This hotel is in immediate need of reinvestment. It was built in the 50's and it looks like in the rooms that was the last time any money was spent. You have a small in the window air conditioner unit. The two night stand lights did not work. The safe did not work. The hair dryer did not work but the front desk provided a new one. The bathroom sink was stained or dirty. To flush the toilet you have to stand there and hold the flipper down until the toilet completes flushing. The ironing board had been bent at some time in its history so it sloped down went set up. There was no elevator so you carry your belongings up an old metal outside staircase to the second floor. This hotel is in an excellent location and the exterior looks wonderful. But I would recommend that you stay elesewhere.

Anyone who says these rooms are nice is lying. Our room had damp old nasty carpet. There was an air freshener plugged into the wall that smelled awful. First time I’ve ever had an air freshener in a room. The bathroom fan was like a jet engine and covered in a layer of gray dust. The toilet seemed like it would overflow every time you flush it. And a tiny 30 something inch tv with just some basics cable stations. Honestly for the price that is insane. Buy some new TVs and get some Netflix. Remove the old nasty carpet and refresh the bathrooms. Honestly just do something if you are going to keep charging these prices. Who runs this place? Discussing room, with a room freshener covering up for god knows what and a TV from 30 years ago. Way to go team. Keep up the good work. Emb
