Audubon's

Fabulous boutique hotel. We had an apartment including small kitchen. It was very clean and recently remodeled. They offered coffee and pastries in the morning. |People are so friendly . If we ever revisit, we will definitely stay here again.

My bf and I were there last night for a romantic Valentines Dinner held in the Midnight Slip. This was my treat to him because he spoils me and one of the ways he does that is by cooking, which he does well. I hate to cook, lol! On the menu was prime rib w/an au jus sauce, chicken with pasta, mashed potatoes, carrots w/a bourbon glaze, roasted brussell sprouts and dinner rolls. I think that was it for dinner. For dessert, creme brulee and chocolate covered strawberries. I got a taste of everything and it was all delicious! I did feel bad for not eating all of my prime rib, but I was getting full and I needed room for dessert! We both were impressed with the look and feel of the Midnight Slip. This is a review of the restaurant only: We came to Ste. Genevieve 2 weeks ago, during the snowstorm. The town received the most snow in the area, 13.8 inches! While many businesses closed their doors this weekend, Audubon's was open. We did not stay at the hotel, but we came for dinner on Saturday night. Rachel gave excellent service. I had the pork chop, and my date had the pork burger. The food was delicious, the service was prompt and friendly, and it was lovely to sit in the cozy dining room with the view of the snow falling in the moonlight on Main Street. I'm so happy Audubon's was open and we could enjoy a nice dinner during a frigid weekend. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

This is a review of the restaurant only: Audubon’s came highly recommended to us so we were very shocked and disappointed with our experience. We had reservations, were promptly seated, and had our drink orders taken. I asked for a glass of wine. Our waiter did not return for 45 minutes. I’m not kidding. It was moderately busy, a Friday night in October, but no events going on. It seemed there was only one waiter for the whole restaurant and no one bartending. When they finally returned and took our order, we reminded them about my glass of wine. It came 15 minutes later (a total 1 hr wait for a glass of wine) and no one ever came to check our water, offer a second glass, or any appetizers. Such a disappointment! The food was good, but our service was pathetic. We had a reservation for 5, and when we arrived it wasn’t busy at all. Our waitress almost completely ignored us. It took forever to get beverages, and then she didn’t come back to take our order until we signaled her. Fresh beverages, or refills were never offered, and once the food was served she never came back. Plates were never cleared, and we had to wave her down to get our checks. We watched her through our visit and she was just hanging out in the kitchen doing nothing! This was some of the worse service that I have ever experienced.
