Anaco Bay Inn

It is obvious that the Anaco Bay Inn in Anacortes, Washington was once a high quality iconic hotel, and was lovingly tended to by its owners. Ten years ago the hotel had been earning many awards and accolades from various well known travel organizations and the new owners have selfishly preserved the displayed decals and plaques celebrating the previous successes while failing miserably at maintaining the high quality under their watch. My family stayed here in multiple rooms over a several day interval. The first thing that is noticed when entering is that worn stained and odorous carpets are present everywhere. The online pictures looked nice, and the price was okay so we booked it. Our first room was a flop because the a/c didn't work. They moved us to a second room. The carpet was pretty dirty and stained around the edges. The mattress was thin, lumpy and very cheap grade. The room was very dark even with all the lights on, and no light close to the bed for reading. The desk clock was broken and didn't work. There was no toilet paper (zero) in the room, and we had to go back to the front desk to get some. No cups in the room or bathroom. Other than that, it was a great stay.

I stayed here for One night and was highly disappointed. The whole space smelled of weed, the beds were very uncomfortable, and they do not return items left behind- even when willing to return to pick it up. I left at 5 am the morning of my check out, after the most uncomfortable night of sleep, and happened to forget my toiletry bag. Although they were quick respond to my email, they let me know that nothing was left behind. Gross to think someone would want a used toothbrush and other personal items, and very disappointing that they would not return it. Update: another guest found it, who checked in after me returned it and they did email me back! So that’s cool. Still a rough sleep!

Positive: "" Negative: When I arrived in the evening, there was nobody at the hotel, everything was locked. I called the number posted on the office door three times, but nobody answered the phone. So I was not able to get into the hotel. They did not refund my money, either

Checked in and front desk was polite. The room was fair for a safe place to sleep but not clean. There were crumbs on the left side of the bed and hairs in the tub! The biggest issue was the clogged tub in our room, 202. Disgusting, as the water filled in the tub during our shower there was filth floating from the drain and our feet were submerged in bacteria I didn’t feel clean. The bathroom fan was absolutely atrociously loud and scary sounding and the shower was squealing until dropping the spout diverter. (The pin on the shower faucet) In the morning we noticed the ice machine was out of order so no ice during our stay. The motel wasn’t super occupied so it was fairly quiet. The rooms are tall so our noise echoed. The AC unit filter wasn’t terrible but the AC itself smelt sour and outd
