Americas Best Value Inn & Suites St. Marys

I am very irritated with this hotel. I left a voicemail at 10:30pm and told them since no one was at the property to let me in (was told I had until 11:30pm to arrive and cut my trip short to make it on time). No one contacted me for another 30 minutes and then told me to come back if possible. No one waits outside of a hotel with no answer for over 30 minutes, so I went to another hotel and made it clear that I did my part to be on time, to only be met with closed doors and a solution after I had already driven 30 minutes in the opposite direction. I was charged for the room that I was not even able to stay at after STATING in my voicemail that I wanted a refund because of such poor planning on this hotels part.

Positive: The clerk was very friendly Negative: The room was dripping wet with humidity. There was mold on the some of the lampshades. The phone did not work in our room. The toilet was so low to the ground. It was miserable to use. The sink/ bathroom room was clean - appliances worked linen was clean.

We recently stayed here for a race at Eldora Speedway. When I booked this hotel ratings were good, 8.2 rating boy was I shocked. The room we got was a king bed smoking, that room was awful. We went back to request non smoking which they did switch us to, which was two double beds. This room (268) was just as bad. Wow, I travel all the time and have NEVER stayed at such a awful place. The smell was terrible, I had went to Walmart and bought plastic to cover beds and a air freshener to try to cover the smell. Desperate need of makeover. We had bug bites on our legs and torso. I contacted the property about this and spoke to Debbie. She said they had Orkin there and no issues. There is something in there, bed bugs or fleas. She was rude on the phone when I spoke to her. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the breakfast room is very nicely stocked, and the whole place is thoughtfully ran. I want to personally thank Michelle and the entire staff there for their kindness and willingness to help me today. You guys are amazing 🩷

Decent motel. Room was a little ran down and shabby but did have a fridge and microwave, as well as shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The pool is small but looks well kept, and the continental breakfast was good. There is an actual fitness room that contains decent equipment, and the staff was very nice. The room TVs are tiny but do have DirecTV and Showtime. The parking lot is a little cramped. There are plenty of restaurants nearby as well as an on-site restaurant and a grocery across the street.
