Alta Sierra Ski Resort

If google had a 0 stars or even negative star rating I would give this place that. Here’s why: 1. I purchased my ticket the night before online. When I got there It took about 30 minutes- 1 hour to get my ticket because everyone was lined up and their computers/ WiFi was down so they couldn’t print any tickets. 2. They have two chair lifts, one that takes you to the summit and one that takes you halfway. I went on the higher section first (only once) and the lift kept breaking down about every 30 seconds. Once I completed my first run, that lift broke completely. 3. I rode the smaller section of the mountain for another hour (which also broke down every 30 seconds) hoping the first lift would reopen. It did and again, paused every 30 seconds then completely broke down for the rest of th

Never coming here again. What exactly did we pay $70+ for? One rinky-dink ski lift that broke down every 15 seconds? The main lift to the top shut down completely—I got on it once, and that was it. After that, the ONLY other lift was the halfway lift, which also kept breaking down every 15 seconds. That run lasts maybe 2 minutes, then you’re right back in a 30-minute line because it was the only lift running until around 2 PM then THAT LIFT BROKE DOWN and everyone had to HIKE back up the mountain and leave the resort. Repetitive, boring, and a complete waste of time. On top of that, I couldn’t even eat because they were only accepting cash due to their system being down. I also bought my lift ticket online for nothing—I still had to wait 40 minutes in line to get it. After our hike up t

Didn't make it all the way to the resort because it looked like you needed chains to make it through the slushy ground. Drove in a Honda CR-V and made it almost to the top. Stopped down the street from the resort and found the perfect snow area for my toddlers to play in for hours.

Lots of fun. Affordable. The runs are small but being local or closer to local makes up for it. Traffic up the road can be a problem.

Great green run to freshen up and practice your skiing. Friendly staff. The lift for the second run was too hard to get on. There is no room to position for the chair, and it comes too fast. Tried getting on it twice and decided that the run wasn't for me. The snow wasn't flat where you stand to get on the chair, so you slide around while trying to get on. The first time to chair hit me on my behind right on my tailbone. Ouch. The second time, I only got on halfway and was dangling as it was going up the hill, and I almost fell off the chair. Had to work to get in the seat as it was going up. I guess they didn't notice as they didn't stop the lift. So we stayed skiing on the green run.
