If you're going to the Equinox and only booking a room or two, true, the lodge is the better choice. The 1811 House isn't creepy -- but sure any building that you're unfamiliar with will seem weird if you're there alone. The fact is the 1811 House is an awesome historic home that is part of the resort. It's very private, so if you're there with a group of friends or family it's PERFECT! The place has a lot of character and charm and the Equinox pretty much turns it over to you if you book all 10 rooms (in the main house, there are another 3 in the cottage). We've been there four times in the last few years with groups of friends and it's an ideal place for a reunion or a big group weekend getaway. It's private, the bar is stocked with essentials (you bring your own booze and music), and yo

My group had reservations through our tour company to stay at the equinox yet to find out the equinox put us in the 1811 house which was built in, you guessed it, 1811. This place creaked and squeaked and we basically referred to it as the hinted house. Everything was old, nothing grand and not what we expected. Only plus was the beds were comfortable. Overall disappointed. This is NOT the Equinox!

I booked a special night away at the Equinox and, after seeing pictures online, decided on a room at the 1811 House- part of the Inns at the Equinox. On check in we discovered that the 1811 House is extremely rustic- low ceilings, very shabby furnishings, and quiet to the point of creepy. From photos I expected quaintness and antiques, but I must stress that it really felt old and desolate and not in any way like the resort itself. The front desk did their best to change our accommodations but, unfortunately, all that remained was a room in the townhouses, which was basically ||like staying in a Motel 6. ||||Again, the staff was lovely and did their best to change things last minute on a busy weekend. I only wish the hotel website had been more forthcoming about what to expect from t

Renovated room in the main hotel was nicely refurbished as we’ve stayed in the same room a few years back when the carpeting was older. Shower head still older and not equivocal those usually in a five star resort. Toilet/shower area very small but otherwise a great room. Service in Marsh Tavern excellent and in Colonnade room for breakfast outstanding staffing as usual and hard working wait staff. Delicious food. Nice to see familiar faces of staff, and the omelet chef-he always makes the best omelets! Went over to 1811 house to read quietly as it was so crowded in main Hotel, due to Presidents weekend. House is older historic colonial with mauve and blue furnishings, antique carpets. House seemed unoccupied when I was there, other than a few guests that were leaving soon after I started

Our stay here was not by design but because the room we were offered in the Equinox was unacceptable and as this is part of their resort we were told that it was the only room available. Our room was in the style of a rural Cotswold guest house - low ceilings and shabby furnishings. The Internet didn’t work in spite of my bringing it to the attention of the concierge and because there are no services in this building, I had to wait over an hour for the main house (across the street) to send over a bag of ice despite repeated calls. The room’s heating is centrally controlled, so the only way to moderate the temperature was to place the floor fan (conveniently left in the closet), into an open window. The building also appears to be low on Equinox’s list of service priorities, for leaving th
