Woodcliff Hotel & Spa

I’m giving the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa 2 out of 5 stars, and unfortunately, it comes down to one issue that overshadowed an otherwise great stay. I woke up with two stink bugs crawling on me. In hundreds of hotel stays over the years, I’ve never encountered a single bug in a room, let alone waking up with two on my body. When I brought this to the staff’s attention, the response was surprisingly more casual than I had expected, as if this were not uncommon for the season. I was told that at this time of year, stink bugs from the nearby woods can make their way inside. I just did not expect to see two stinkbugs on my chest through the bathroom mirror as I brushed my teeth in the morning after my stay. Woodcliff was easy to find and travel to. I only stayed overnight so I didn't get an opportunity to utilize many of the amenities. The atmosphere was mid-upper class, but the finishes were beginning to show signs of age and wear. Rooms were comfortable, well appointed and clean. The noise level was at 0, to the point that I felt that I was the only person in the building. The front desk was cheerful and extremely helpful when I realized I had forgotten my razor. The price was very reasonable considering the grade of establishment.

This is a great hotel experience. You can dine in the whole time at the Horizons restaurant. They offer live music near the bar on saturday at easy listening volumes that you can talk over while dining off the bar. You can order the small and delicate marshmallow ice cream in espresso and cup, covered with a special graham cracker, topped with a small marshmallow and Verona dark chocolate, all smoked under glass. You can split this and easily finish it after the most filling dinner. Don't miss this for fear of calories or being full. The site on the hill provides a great overlook to the surrounding Rochester area. Great overlooks from the restaurant, and we were here in January with snow. (Of course there was snow, but it was normal 1 to 3 inch flurries. Normal Rochester winter).

Staff was gracious and friendly, bar was awesome and entertainment was great. Morning cafe options were good and appreciate the free coffee! Rooms were spacious and clean, beds were comfortable and love the king size bed! Bathroom had some stains on wall that could have been cleaned easily so that was a little gross. Shower was not super warm but was ok. Was with a (well behaved) hockey group and I know staff was struggling with another team who was not cooperating with expectations and I felt bad for them, lots of credit to them for their patience. Overall would 100% stay here again.

Our stay here was very pleasant. The spa is best in class - great service and atmosphere. The hotel was also great. Our room’s heating console was making an unusually loud noise and we called the front desk and had maintenance at our room within 10 minutes. When they determined it would take too long to repair the unit, we were promptly switched to a new room. I appreciate the staff and their ability to accommodate our needs. Super responsive and great service. The secluded location of the hotel makes it feel like a true getaway. Would return to stay again!
