Wood River Campground

Updating my review from last year. Because this site is no-camping fee, people hoard camp sites at this location. When I drove by this year hoping to camp, all sites were occupied by large RVs who will not even sleep outside their vehicles. How about reserving at least half the sites for tent campers? The Brown Mountain campground is also closed and there is no notification anywhere on the highway. So you drive there for nothing. Note: Do not go to this area unless you are willing to risk not getting a campsite and waste your time. Previous Review: Serendipitously ended up at this campground during a scientific field expedition. Small campground in a beautiful area. Most of the sites are smaller. It should be noted that it is about 11 miles down a gravel road to get to the site. This is a free campground. As of mid-August 2019 it is under construction and closed. I talked to one of the guys on site and he said construction will be ongoing for a few weeks, so will probably open back up in early to mid September 2019.

Very peaceful and quiet.
