Winthrop Arms Hotel & Restaurant

I have to say the staff are very nice and are hard workers, unfortunately it doesn’t help the quality of the food & safety. I had dinner at the restaurant on two different occasions. The first time was in the dining room, the baked potato wasn’t cooked. They brought me a second potato, which was the same. The 2nd time I had dinner at the bar, the quality was about the same. I ordered steak tips, which were described as everyone’s favorite; however, the meat was either fatty, chewy, or expired and covered in barbecue sauce. I requested steak fries as one of my sides, but they were out of them. I couldn’t eat the steak tips, and I was hungry, so I ordered apple crisp. The reviews are mixed but it's an interesting place. It's right in the middle of a residential neighborhood on the lake. The restaurant is pretty cool. The room was basic but clean. I would suggest they get deadbolt locks on the doors but otherwise a safe, clean stay in a unique place. If you want a place near the airport to stay for a night, save some money and have an interesting story, this is the place.

Great location to beach, rooms in very good shape, clean, comfortable, look like they were recently upgraded. Pleasantly surprised! Check in is in the restaurant, which makes it a little weird if you arrive in the evening. Parking was good, but our stay was not in the warmer months.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay! Friendly staff, great restaurant with delicious food and drinks downstairs, beautiful ocean views, and full of charm. Our room was very comfortable for an older place and beautifully clean. Booked on Expedia and they said they were charging half and apparently they only charged for one night up front, so we had a little bit of a misunderstanding at first, but the owner came over and explained - really nice guy. The wonderful and friendly staff really made the stay incredible, thank you. I'd love to come back to this gem.
