Window Rock Cabin

One of the cleanest forest service cabins I’ve ever been to. Great pit toilet too! Road hadn’t been plowed but with winter driving skills and a subaru with 8.7 in of clearance made it fine to the pull out designated for the cabin off the single lane road past the reservoir and palisades trailhead. In the morning, we were surprised by the treat of the plow! So we had a much easier drive out. We brought a snow shovel that came in handy to dig out the spot and continue the tradition of digging out the path to the cabin, pit toilet, and wood shed. We used a standard plastic kid sled to haul our stuff up the path. Came with my 66 year old mom and she was able to make the walk easy peasy. Will definitely be back in the future with friends to use the beds in the loft and crosscountry ski especial

Stay here. Our 2-night stay at this cabin was the highlight of our Montana trip. It was clean, stocked with some basic supplies, and was very private & quiet. What makes it truly stand out is its location and breathtaking views…in every direction. The mountains and meadows were mesmerizing while relaxing on the porch or at the fire pit. The location is perfect for hiking the numerous surrounding trails. Was so hard to drive away and leave this special place.

Somehow made it with no phone service but a working google maps run. Amazing Cabin in the glorious foothills near Hyalite Lake ♥ Can't recommend this lodging option enough. A little tricky to find which isn't a bad thing. The sunset and night sky were incredible. Not a bad idea to show up early to prepare the log fireplace. Very well maintained, make sure to read the in cabin journal guest book! Much gratitude to all those wanderers exploring new spaces =) Cheers

Great cabin, warm, comfortable and the views are incredible. Been there a few times and will be coming back more times in the future. Great trail available from the cabin, nice creek flowing by, and just a great place to get away and relax
