Windmill Motel

We were so thrilled at the clean and fresh smelling and extra roomy - due to completely being remodeled in 2005. We met the owner Larry& his sweet sister in law , Betty. . There is a nice grill and BON fire pit to use. Rates were very reasonable , too. Almost half price compared to Harbor Beach motel. We will definitely go back & we highly recommend to all our friends. No ice machine though.

Would give zero stars if I could. Drove over 2 hours to get here with my family for vacation after working all day so I didn't get there till about 1 am. I had already spoke with the owner and told him I'd be checking in late that day and he said it wouldn't be a problem. Well it was a problem for him apparently. He was rude from the very beginning and tried to tell me I was drunk because it was around 2 in the morning and that's when the bars close. I told him I wasn't drunk and that I had just drove over 2 hours and we had talked about me arriving late on the phone and that it wasn't a problem. So because it was "bar closing time" he decided that the price we agreed to for the room wasn't the price he was going to honor and wanted to charge me a significant amount more because it was tha

The motel overall was excellent. It was very clean and well kept. Prices are very reasonable, and it is within a short driving distance to many of Huron county's main attractions. The staff was very friendly and willing to answer all the questions that I had. Needless to say, we will be returning in the future for another weekend vacation.

They don't provide a coffeemaker. But they do provide a dorm fridge and a microwave. Need more gravel, parking seems cramped. Need real drapes, not thin curtains; this is the sunrise coast you know. Love the new tile shower, but more toiletries than a bar of soap, one roll of TP, and the thinnest towels imaginable would be nice. Well after staying at Motel Huron this place seems upscale. The room is huge in comparison to their little cabins.

Says they are pet friendly but they are definitely not. They have one pet friendly room so it's best to call ahead if you are traveling with your furry friend. Also, there are a lot of rules about the pets. Pets are not allowed on the bed. They charge $10 more per night for the room and kept $20 of our $50 deposit because they found some dog hairs on the bed. We followed all the rules and because some dog hair which probably came off of our clothes or our luggage was on the beds we lost the deposit. You cannot leave pets alone in the room, you have to take them everywhere you go, that means even if you want to have a fire in the firepit or grill in the picnic area you cannot take your pet with you and cannot leave them in the room.
