Wilder Inn

Stayed one night in a non smoking room with two beds. (Be aware, they're only full size beds, not queens!) We paid a slightly discounted rate of $76 before taxes. Not terrible for a weekend rate when the Laura Ingalls Wilder pageant is on in nearby Walnut Grove! ||It was a very hot, humid day when we checked in. Park in front of your room:) The room was pleasantly cold when we got there:) All rooms have full sized Sleep Number beds. Comfortable for one person, but wouldn't want to share. Our room also had a large screen wall mounted tv, table with two chairs, fridge and microwave. No coffeepot. Coffee, ice, bottled water, frozen treats, tv dinners, pizza, fruit and sweetrolls available in the office. Gas bbq grills available. ||Don't be afraid to stay here!! Nice people, quiet refurbished

It wasn’t the best experience. The beds were not comfortable for stiff, the pillows had no support, black and yellow stains all over the mattress, cockroach in the toilet. Dead ants in one of the beds. The bathroom was small, not clean enough. Staff was decent, and welcoming. Otherwise I don’t think any of the bedding have been in a washer and drier. Don’t recommend, otherwise it was alright.

Our experience was not the same as the other reviews. We had to track down a staff member when we checked in, even tho we arrived exactly when we said we would. The room was dark & dingy. We opened the bathroom window & the curtain rod fell off the window. The electric outlets in the bathroom were broken & didn't work. There were no hair products (shampoo and/or conditioner), no hair dryer and no coffee maker. The beds were not sleep number beds. There was a flat screen TV with poor television service. When we went into the office in the morning to get coffee & a roll at 8:00 am, the small coffee pot was almost empty & there were 2 danish rolls left. Wayy overpriced. But they keep the rooms clean and the beds are comfortable. Make sure you check your bank statement after you're charged for your room. They wrote $68 a night on my receipt for a single room but checked my transactions later and they charged me $88 a night (double room). Not sure if they're trying to pull something or if it was an accident. Just be sure to check.

I didn't expect this too be a great place and it wasn't. It was just okay. The room was small, dark and had a smell. The beds were supposed to be sleep number but they didn't work. The bathroom was uncomfortably small and I am not a big person. If you plan on staying there make sure you have eaten first because there are slim pickens for food. We ended up with a gas station pizza. It was okay but not what we wanted.
