Wild Fox Cabins

This was my second time staying at the “Shoe-In” glamping site, and it was even better than the first! It really is just a short walk from parking…maybe a few minutes, and there is a cart there to help haul gear, but you don’t need much! The table worked out great for our meal prep and cooking, which was often done over the fire. It’s so easy to cook over the fire with the swingable grate that goes over the fire. But the best was the tent setup. Camping with a real bed with sheets! Last time I brought my cold weather bag (mid October), which wasn’t necessary at all. It got chilly at night for sure, but the wood stove keeps that tent good and toasty for several hours. Tent was big enough to stand straight (6’ tall), with plenty of room for clothing/supplies. After meeting the owners at an outdoors show, we booked a week in August for Cabin #2. The cabins are pet-friendly (with surcharge) so we brought our two dogs. The stay was better than we could have expected - cabins are well appointed and super-clean, with a back porch overlooking the lake and woods. All linens and kitchen essentials are included. Just sitting outside and listening to the loons was so peaceful - as was sitting by the firepit every evening with s'mores. Bevin maintains a selection of supplies for purchase in the office, in case you forgot to bring something - like a Thermocell! She is very attentive to her guests. We rented 3 cabins for a large family long weekend and had the best time! The cabins were extremely clean with everything we needed for preparing meals. The remote location was so quiet and relaxing. Our dogs were welcome; we rented boats for fishing and swimming, and just enjoyed the views. There is no easy swimming access but we boated to a sandy area for swimming on hot days. The hosts were so really helpful and welcoming. Looking forward to a fall trip to enjoy foliage!

My family of 4 spent a fantastic 3 nights in Cabin 8. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, even preparing are Cabin for early check-in. The lake is sublime, we saw ONE other boat while out fishing. Wild Fox is a true Maine gem!

Highly recommend Wild Fox. The cabins had all the necessary items to make for a pleasant stay. The boats and motors are well-maintained, complete with fish finders, net, and life vests. The fishing was awesome and made it very memorable for my grandson. The staff went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy. The lake system is surrounded by conservation land which made for breath taking pictures. My grandson pointed out a bald eagle which was perched on a tall tree on one of the many small islands on the lake. If you get bored with fishing just go explore the lake system and see what nature offers, it makes for a wonderful afternoon.
