I did not make it all the way to the campground, I wussed out when I got within a mile of the campground. There was a large hill with a very narrow winding sand trail that I just couldn't get myself to traverse. The drive to this point was fun/beautiful however. *Do not attempt without 4x4 and a mildly high clearance vehicle. Some of the ruts in the sand trails can get pretty deep. There is also a pretty narrow gate to go through so be aware if you have a really wide vehicle.

Has a lot of 4 wheel trails around and leading back to campgrounds... A great place to play!!! The major off road trails offer a bit of something for everyone looking for good trails... Big obstacle trails and smaller obstacles... We however did see some trash, people! What you pack in pack it out... We picked up all trash we came across... Have respect for this, don't ruin a good thing for others... The station before forest entry has an awesome map of the trails too... That came in very handy!!!!

If you have a 4x4 to pull in your camper or horse trailer, just know that you will have to restack your dishes when you get there. It is rough and the sugar sand can be unforgiving if you do not know how to drive in that. Do not try this trail with a 2 wheel drive car, pickup, or motor home. But if you do make it, it is a wonderful, secluded, primitive, dispersed camping next to the Dismal River.

This place was way off the highway and hard to get to with my Toyota Prius. I know it said 4x4 only on the sign 12 miles from camp, but I had someone there with a 4x4 in case I got stuck. Aired down the tires to 15 lbs and stayed on top of the ruts and luckily didn't get stuck once. Its all sand so some of the ruts on the road are over a foot deep even in good weather. The remoteness of this camp makes it less populated which is awesome. Right next to the river and access to the atv trails from camp too.

Its a tough campground to get to, and not a lot of reception either, but it is beautiful. I was fortunate to have the camp all to myself and it was extremely peaceful. The trees and location blocked the wind from the rough storm and the nearby river was beautiful to look at. There were no trails but you could walk the dirt roads along the plains, it was pretty nice.
