White River Ranger Station

Talked to a Ranger (he’ll remain unnamed to protect privacy) over the phone today and he was very kind, respectful, and informative. He helped me find a great alternative trail in response to a hiccup in our plans. Need more people like him. Remember to thank the people who work in our National Parks. They are the reason you have access to the treasures of America.

Impossible to get anyone on the phone; it just rings and rings and rings. So much for "call the ranger station to see if [road/trail/site] is open". In person it's not much better. They're rude when they do give you info (which is sometimes incorrect) but more likely than not they say they don't know. While I appreciate the honesty, some better communication within the ranger system would be better - what's the point of having them there except as glorified toll booth operators if they can't even say whether a road past the booth is open? They need a serious pay raise or something here because morale seems to be massively low

This small outpost was perfect for getting Junior Ranger booklets for the kids ahead of Sunrise Visitor Center- (which ended up being closed due to staff shortage.)

Super friendly ranger, allowed us in five minutes before our reservation time. Smooth entry as we had our reservation, park pass, and ID ready. No issues in or out.

Terribly slow & it took us over 50 min to get through this point & that too during non peak season. Really? Why can’t they expedite it & open both windows? Several cars decided to turn back after 30 min waiting. Weekends are busy I understand but it’s still no where close to peak summers season. At least make it faster.
