West Branch Pond Camps

Stayed here as one of our stops of a multi-lodge Nordic skiing trip. By far the best food! Great service, friendly staff and guests (many of the people we met are regular visitors- we may become one of them).

We’ve now stayed at all the back country lodges in the Moosehead Lake / Greenville area and West Branch Pond is our new favorite. Privately owned by the Stirling family, our 2 night stay exceeded expectations. When we checked in, the stove was fired up and the cabin was warm and comfortable. Our cabin was immaculately clean and we were surprised by a cooler full of fresh water ready for us to refill our bottles. Homemade dinners and breakfasts were generous and delicious, with lots of variety to choose from. Also appreciated were real bathrooms with showers located close to the main kitchen building. Bathrooms in the cabins are closed in winter due to pipe freezing concerns. There is electricity in the cabins for a few hours each day so charging cameras, etc is convenient. The Stirlings

I have been going to West Branch Pond Camps for over 10 years. It has become one of my favorite destinations on the planet. West branch combines tranquility, beauty, quality and delicious food in a way that is very hard to find, and I say this as someone who has visited more than a dozen sporting camps over the past 15 years!. This is a great destination for a family, couple, or for someone looking for outdoor activity. Highly recommended!

This may be my favorite place in the world. I come here year after year with my family, and it's always an outstanding experience. Cozy cabins right near the pond, all with great views. It's always wonderful to see moose across the pond from the porch. There are kayaks, canoes, and rowboats available for people to use and explore the pond and its wildlife. Please don't get too close to the animals though because we don't like to see people scaring them off. Meals are included in the price of lodging, and there are 3 per day. Breakfast at 7:30, lunch at noon, and dinner at 6:00. I recommend you do your best to be there for all the meals as none of them disappoint. This winter we returned for our 10th nearly annual visit to West Branch Pond Camps near Greenville, Maine for several days of Nordic skiing. The snow gods were good to us this year, almost more snow than I've ever seen! Eric Stirling, the 3rd generation owner provides a mix of ungroomed and groomed skiing per the desires of your group. His marked trail network grows every year and is up to about 25 miles and will keep novices to experts happy. An extended ski tour is also possible as the camp is part of the AMC's 3-lodge system in AMC's 75,000+ acres with 100+ miles of trails.
