Customer Reviews
My wife and I had dinner at the Watkins Inn and Tavern last night, and we were thoroughly impressed. The new owners and staff made us feel right at home with their warm hospitality. I ordered the Reuben sandwich with parmesan fries, and the meal was absolutely delicious. The prices were very reasonable. We also enjoyed a beautiful view of the Hooper Golf Course. We’ll definitely be going back!
We stayed the night at the Watkins Inn Father's Day weekend and it was fantastic. We enjoyed the Green room, the tavern, and the 32 mile ride on the Cheshire Rail Trail to get there. It was the perfect destination for our trip.
This place is the perfect all in one experience. Upstairs the rooms are well kept, comfortable, with the amenities you’ll need & downstairs is the cozy bar/dining room that looks out on the course. Food is great! They take an original approach to some common offerings which keeps the selection fun. Keep Eric, CJ, & their staff in mind for any events or catering you may need (they worked with us on allergen free offerings too which isn’t an easy thing to do!). They do weddings too!
This place is wonderful. I was on a long car ride with my toddler when my phone died — I was still an hour from home, and I needed the maps app to get there! The people at the tavern were so kind and welcoming and sorted me out: charged my phone, gave us food that both my kid and I loved, and turned a disastrous evening into a lovely one. You might expect a historic tavern on a golf course to be stuffy, but it wasn’t at all. It was friendly and relaxed, and everyone was all smiles toward my rambunctious toddler, which isn’t always the case at a nice restaurant. It’s a gorgeous building, but the people are even better: true hospitality.
We stayed here a night in January. Friendly accommodating staff. The tavern was busy around 5:30... tho the crowd thins out early. Food looks great...lots of craft beers Room very comfy( make sure the radiator is on!) With Tempurpedic mattress and pillows. No bfast but do it yourself coffee in hallway outside of rooms
