Used To Be Timber Shores Campground

I spent two weeks there, every summer, from the year Timber Shores opened, until I graduated from high school in 1972. My parent’s and younger sibs continued the summer tradition for many more years. I made great memories there, and even a life long friend, who I still keep in touch with, after all these years. My best memories are hanging out on the beach with friends, dances on the patio, next to the pool, canoe paddles on the Platt River, and renting a boat to go out to the island.

Camped there first 2 weeks every august 73-78 as I entered my teens. I was there with my best friend when Elvis died, sneaking out of the tent, and then some beers from people's campsite coolers (sorry if that was you). We would go lay on a big rock on the beach get buzzed and watch for shooting stars. I still have the many ribbons I won from swim contests, and he greased watermelon in pool event was a blast. I remember playing Pong in the beach lounge. The weekend dances they held was simply the best of times.

I remember camping at Timber Shores when I was a little girl. I liked the kids movies and hayrides. I loved getting candy at the store by the lake.
