Great trail! We parked one vehicle at the Kirby Trailhead and one in this parking lot. Both parking lots have a bathroom and good parking. Area seemed safe. We hiked to the Kirby Trailhead, ate lunch at the picnic tables there, used the bathroom and headed back to the Turkey Creek Trailhead. 12.5 miles route doing it this way. Trails were good. Bridge is out at 1.47 miles from Turkey Creek so if it's been raining be prepared for water. Couple of downed trees you have to cross over as well. Saw lots of deer (mainly along the pipelines). Good trail markers on the trees.
Definitely a good hiking trail. Trail was very well maintained and wide enough to even ride a bike. We will be going to the north trail soon.
Free camping available, just need to make a reservation with a park ranger in the Big Thicket visitors center (or online).
Beautiful & well kept trail through a portion of the Big Thicket. Solo or not, this is a great hike.
The short hike I took was peaceful reason for the four stars there was a little bit of trash along the trail
