Use caution kayaking this part of the Rifle River! In August, this part of the river is dangerous! (I cannot speak to early summer months) I do not recommend this for children or anyone not in top physical condition. It really is only appropriate for advanced kayakers. We went on a 12 mile kayak trip. The water was shallow (6" in a lot of places), full of large rocks, trees and branches and the current was strong. There was very little time to relax on the river as we spent all our time dodging obstacles. We tipped over many times, and it was a struggle to hold on to the kayak, paddle, and flotation device while the current was pulling them all away and we were tripping over the rocks. On top of all that, one of the kayaks had a leak. We finally had to pull it up on a bank and drain it as
Rude owner, poorly maintained facilities, and above all FAR TOO SHALLOW TO TUBE! DO NOT ATTEMPT TUBING HERE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! A new show "CAMPGROUND NIGHTMARES" needs to be created and someone sent here. One of the worst facilities I have ever been to. Avoid the Troll at all costs, do not answer her "Questions 3". She was rude, dishonest, and disrespectful. The rest of the staff was very nice and polite, but the owner was an impossible woman to deal with. I was very polite and nice to her and never demanding, politely asked for a refund as we decided not to camp there after the horrible experience. She flat out refused and was VERY rude. Other members of our party had a similar experience in their dealings with her. Their sign needs to be changed to "ICE COLD" showers. There are no wa
Although we found the people very friendly and had a great time tubing with family, we cannot recommend this place. The river was way too shallow to be enjoyable. Most of the tubes were covered in mildew and dirt. But the worst and most dangerous part was where they dropped us off for the 3 hour trip. We had to walk about 100- 125 feet through waist high weeds and LOTS of poison ivy, sharp sticks and old rusty metal posts sticking up jaggedly from the ground. The trail was wet and had a steep slope. It was not a safe location for a group to walk. Anyone who is a bit unstable would have a very tough time getting through there.
TERRIBLY UNSAFE! They didn't tell us on the phone that it was cash only, and it was crazy expensive! We waited almost 1 hour to get in the van and be dropped off. The tubes were not fastened and fell off on the road resulting in the driver having to return to get more tubes. We were dropped off on M55 where there was a lot of traffic. We were told to walk thru waist high weeds and a lot of trees until we reach the water which was not visible. The van left, we started walking and the childern were scared. Finally reached the water. It was full of seaweed and mucky. One tube had a hole in it and had to be blown up constantly. There were several trees in spots accross the river where we had to climb out navigating large stones, weeds and trees to bypass the downed trees and get back in the wa
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a great time floating the river, and the staff picked us up right on time. I feel like the experience was a great value. I think that if the company accepted credit/debit cards that it would improve the whole experience, just charge the customer a small convenience fee to cover the cost of card transactions.
