Gorgeous trail! It is uphill the entire way out but the reward of reaching the end is completely worth it! On the drive to the trailhead we took a forest road and that was a major mistake. You will want to drive up through trampas the town and then down a forest road to the trailhead. It would not be a difficult day hike but we backpacked it and it was a little difficult.
Camping along the road is better than at the trailhead due to the number of backpackers parking at the trailhead. The wild flowers in July were spectacular on the hike to the Trampas lakes.
Trampas lakes is great dayhike, no bugs labor day weekend and there are lots i Of campsites at the top of the trail if you want to hike in. Campground itself is basic but nice sites along a creek.
Trail leads to beautiful lakes. Trailhead camp just so-so & very busy at times.
