Todd Lake Recreation Area Campground

Todd Lake is a very clean nice recreation place. It has a small lake, close to the lake is clean bathrooms, a small playground area. Close to the lake there are picnic tables with grills. Also there is a small beach area. The view from the lake is spectacular, with Mountain View’s around 3 sides with trees then the picnic area to the 4th side. Since it’s part of the National Forest it’s very reasonable fee. There is camping on the property but I didn’t see the sites. It’s close to Harrisonburg and Staunton plus to Interstate 81. There are plenty of birds singing as well.

A great little recreation spot. There is a small play structure & a couple of picnic tables. The lake is divided between swimming & fishing. It has a sandy beach as well as a cement ramp for handicapped access extending all the way into the water. Salamanders & tiny perch are plentiful in the swimming area, but completely harmless. Admission to the swimming area is $8 per carload per day. There are flush toilets in close proximity to the lake. The campground is open seasonally & operates on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Todd Lake recreation area campground is southwest of Harrisonburg VA. As the name implies, there is a lake on the property but it is down the mountain a bit and no campsites border it. There are two restrooms in the campground and the one I used had 2 flush toilets and a single button shower. Best I could tell the shower was cold water only. One of the toilets was plugged with paper towels and the shower didn't drain very well. The road that loops through the campground is quite narrow in some spots. I navigated it ok in my pickup truck, but it would be a challenge in anything bigger or if towing a large trailer. The campsites look best suited to a tent with one vehicle rather than any big rig setup. I did however see a few midsize trailers near the entrance. The sites have tent pads, picn

The campground host was very sweet and kept the bathrooms and bathhouses impeccably clean. The sand was freshly grated and clean. The shallow part of the lake went out pretty far so the kids had a lot of space to play. We felt safe and everything was clean. My only regret is not bringing bikes for the kids. We did both hikes and they were perfect! The "lake" is the size of a large pond, but it is big enough for kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and canoes. Lots of space to swim. We took the dog and he had a great time too
