Customer Reviews
Great park. Very friendly staff. It still has not recovered fully since Covid but there's plenty to do here. I tent camped for 3 nights and enjoyed it. The trails are awesome. The campground is maintained. The pool and recreation areas are not maintained but the pavilions are still usable. So much potential if it becomes fully staffed again. I would go again even with it not being fully operational.
Love this place. Great for hiking, camping, canoeing, disc golf and my favorite part is just being out in nature. This place has it all! Go and you will add this to your list of favorites too!
The park is in a beautiful setting but has seen much better times. It desperately needs some time, effort and money spent on it. Most of the trails have fallen trees on them, the bridges are falling apart, the swimming pool is full of slimy green water and the old part of the campground is in disrepair. The newer section of the RV park (sites 38 to 56) are much nicer but the restrooms and showers are in the old section. They are kept clean but are very old and some doors have no locks. I visited in early November 2025 and nobody was emptying the firepits and so they were all full of ash etc. It is such a shame; as I said previously and can be seen from my photos, the location is beautiful. Hopefully something will be done.
Lovely State Park. RV site is full service including sewer. The staff is friendly. They have ice and firewood for sale. Beautiful property with interesting rock formations accessible from the road or with a short, easy hike. The Pioneer Cabin is on a very pretty roadside area. You can stay in cool cabins with nice screened-in patios built as part of the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) in the 1930s. There is a cluster of cabins as part of the group camp that would be great for a family reunion. I'd highly recommend this spot right off the Natches Trace Parkway.
5 January 2026 The park is beautiful! Really great walking trails and beautiful landscape! One of the best features is the local Labrador Retriever. The owner lives on the other side of the park and says she has been going there her whole life and comes home when all the visitors leave. She melted our hearts. There are basic amenities but there is definitely a clear lack of funding for this park to make it top tier. I would love to see some Mississippi money moved to this park I think a quarter million and the right contractors could do a lot here!
