Thumb Heritage Inn

Clean, well-appointed rooms. Reasonable rates, lower than the place down the road. Staff and management very caring and eager to make their guests comfortable. We're glad we gave this place a try.

Wanted 2 nights but after the first night we checked out. Spider and webs in the bathroom. No hand towels. Bedding was awful. The floors were disgusting. My husband woke up to a dead bug under his pillow. The front desk clerk was a nightmare. Charged us for 3 nights instead of 2 nights. They said we would be refunded, we weren't. I believe she was still in bed when we wanted to check out. Took several attempts of ringing the bell and the after hours bell to get checked out. She was in her pajamas. The locks aren't very secure. Slept with my firearm by my pillow. Thankfully I had my own pillow and blanket. Stay away from this hole.

DO NOT BOOK. we booked 4 rooms while in the area for a funeral. We did not stay overnight. As soon as we saw and smelled the rooms, NO WAY. And the prices were not cheap. Nothing like the photos. The only good thing I can say is that the clerk gave us a full refund without hesitation…tells me this was nothing new to them. Old, old, smelled, ick.

I stayed at Thumb Heritage with my girlfriend who was in a rodeo in town,,The room was very clean and we got a good continental breakfast and the hotel manager was always helpful, friendly and we really enjoyed our stay, we will be back next year for sure .

Our family has started here several times. A clean, simple place to sleep that's only 15 minutes or less from Port Sanilac Beach and boat launch. Right in Sandusky so it's close to Walmart, fast food, and a Pizza Hut that actually still has dine in service! The only downside is that the continental breakfast is not great at all. Stale cereal and some pastries were about it. Even my 13y/o son wouldn't eat it and teenage boys eat everything! So plan on grabbing breakfast elsewhere. Other than that it's a good place to stay if you're wanting to be close to the beach or for parents doing travel sports.
