DIRTY. Dead bugs in window over the table in cabin#95. The bathroom stunk so bad. Smelled like dog piss really bad. I understand its a pet friendly cabin but... The smell was horrendous. The silverware was dirty. The swimming pool.has been closed for over 2 yrs. Totally disappointed. Feels like a big huge rip off. We were there in cabin #95 from 3/6-8/2026 I would not recommend this place due to the condition of the cabin..not clean enough and the swimming pool being down for over 2 yrs. Ugh
We stayed in a cabin at Whalers Rest near Newport Oregon. The location was awesome to get to Newport attractions. The campground is well laid out and the cabins have everything you need for a comfortable stay to include a well sticked kitchenette. Staying off season was so peaceful and we still were able to hike on the beach and in nearby trails. Perfect couples get away (also good for families).
We have been coming to Whalers Rest for a long time and always really enjoyed our stay, especially an evening soak in the hot tub. Unfortunately, when we arrived were told the Pool & Hot Tub were down until April. I had checked online when I booked and again just before we left to see if the pool was closed with no mention the closure. I mentioned my discontent at check-in but after 2 days still no mention of the closure online. |I am also astounded at the club house and pool hours listed on the door, 6PM for the pool and 7PM for the Clubhouse so when the pool does reopen, I doubt I will return due to the pool hours. It would be nice after a day of whale watching and a nice dinner to have a soak before bedtime but 6PM closing seems aimed at a different demographic.
My husband and I loved our weekend getaway to Thousand Trails Whalers Rest. We have a cabin pass and decided to use it over a rainy weekend. WI-FI was perfect in our cabin and everything was clean and tidy. We had everything we were needing even a puppy pack they had made up for our furry family member. We will definitely be back.
Camp host are always attentive to help but you may get attitude from some who are not wanting to do their job. My membership pays to keep these places running. We go camping to enjoy our weekends but at this resort pool and hot tub is closed at 6 pm that’s so controlling and leaves guests with nothing to do except hang out in your trailer . Listen here 8 pm on the weekends during winter is not much to ask. 10 during summer. My gosh people.
