We have stayed at the Yearling many times over the years - fell in love the first time we visited. It is a rare slice of old Florida tucked in between Orange Lake and Lake Lochloosa on Cross Creek. The "vintage" cabins are right on the creek and when you enter, it's like stepping back in time. We always take our fishing boat and put in at the Yearling boat ramp. The common area has a fire pit and is nestled under the most beautiful live oaks (water oaks ??). More often than not, guests will be relaxing outside around the fire in the evenings and are always eager to visit with new friends. The restaurant at the Yearling is delicious every time, and the bartender makes great drinks. They also have live music occasionally. It is an interesting place, and should not be missed!! The Yearling cabins are our favorite get away and in fact held our wedding there. The cabins are so quaint, clean and the firepit by Cross Creek offers a time where you can totally relax. We will continue to stay frequently and recommend this location to anyone who wants to relive that old Florida fish camp experience. Food at the restaurant is very good. An overall wonderful experience
Stayed in cabin 3 (cute yellow cabin) with two twin beds, kitchenette, and bathroom. The cabin was so clean, the antique decor was adorable, and the beds were very comfy. My mom and I loved the convenience of the fridge and they even provided coffee and a couple of snacks. We loved the rustic original decor and the signs posted around the grounds. Very cool piece of history. The Yearling Cabins allows dogs for a very small fee, so thankful for that! The best part about the cabins is the location, tucked away next to Cross Creek, under big tall live oak trees dripping with Spanish moss, and the Yearling Restaurant is on the property( separate review for the restaurant in a diff.post, but the yearling restaurant is a must-see). You can enjoy your screened in porch or go sit in the chairs by
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE – THEY RUINED OUR THANKSGIVING 2025 We booked this place through Booking on November 18, 2025 for a stay from November 26 to 29, with the intention of spending Thanksgiving here as a family. We were very excited and, after almost 5 hours driving, we arrived at the property at around 6:08 pm. Our assigned cabin was #3. When we arrived, we discovered that it was ALREADY OCCUPIED. This is totally unacceptable, especially considering that the owners use a 4–digit pin for access, so supposedly the control of who enters and who doesn’t is completely their responsibility. Shocked to see the cabin already occupied, we called several times the contact number provided by Booking. We spoke with Robert and Cindy and, instead of offering us a professional solution, each new respo
We wanted a cute rural getaway and once again the Yearling satisfied. We have stayed 3 times now : great couples getaway ! Nice room includes fridge/coffee TV, recliner dresser. It was clean and the decor was antique fitting with the Yearling theme. Bed was comfy and AC / heater both worked fine. It is a short walk to look at Cross creek and a fire pit to watch the fishing boats go by. Off road forest gravel/mountain bicycling nearby. The restaurant served fantastic food both times we stayed when they were open and that is who opens the room for you. When it’s not open the phone numbers posted on the sign have a quick response. Could not be happier!
