The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas North

We’ve stayed here now 10 times. It’s a great location with an amazing beach and lots of amenities. The room quality is very good. It is certainly not plush, but it is very high-quality. It definitely lives up to the western brand. The maintenance is kept up and the staff very attentive. There is something to consider, however, and that is that if you visit in the spring, there may be high winds and with the fire that affected the island a couple of years ago, their default is to have the power company shut off power to that portion of the island. We lost power for nearly 48 hours and lost a lot of our food.

I love this resort and hope to return.||Location: This resort, shared with the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas (south), sits on a premier snorkeling beach. Our oceanfront studio villa 8108 was truly oceanfront, and we could hear the waves from the room and sit on the patio and watch the whales and the people walking the beach walk. (This is in contrast to complaints of the oceanfront studios of the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Villas (south) where some reviewers say it isn't truly oceanfront. ||The beach in front of this resort in particular is my first choice for Maui. With calm seas, it is perfect for snorkeling from shore and swimming. This time, the ocean was rough and there was no snorkeling possible and it wasn't the best for swimming due to the reef. We have stayed at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Villas a few times now. It isn’t the nicest resort on Maui or in Kaanapali and it doesn’t have the best food. But it does have a lot of other things going for it. Our favorite is the location to the boardwalk and the super easy access to the most beautiful beach. Perfect for morning walks. Snorkeling is incredible there. Also turtles, sometimes dolphins, monk seals and tons of whales during whale season. You have to pay $90 for two beach chairs and an umbrella. $36 for just an umbrella. Parking is $35 a night. It all adds up quickly. If you want a lounge chair at the pool, you have to get up by 5 AM to get the one you want. They have activities all day and live music most nights- really enjoyable to sit by the fit pit, watch the sunset and live

We have stayed here numerous times over the years and never disappointed with the location, quality and amazing pool areas. It’s right on the boardwalk pathway and you can walk for miles in the morning with ease. Can walk to Whalers Village if you want however a good 4km walk there and back. The rooms and views are great, for ocean view room you get to see the water a bit which is nice. The balconies are refreshing for morning coffee and just enjoying the Maui scenery. Pools are great and can use any pool in both buildings. I can’t say enough good things about this place and how much I love it! Thank you Westin for another amazing holiday.

Positive: We got a fine room with a kitchen and a nice courtyard (and partial ocean) view in Ka'anapali resort at the last minute. Negative: The hotel parking places were almost all for "compacts only" but most of the vehicles in the lot were large SUVs and minivans. Also it cost $32 a night.
