The View Motel

Finding this absolute gem of Americana made our entire trip!! By chance we ended up in Galena without a place to stay. While driving south we happened across Andy's pride and joy, The View Motel. Lucky for us they had a room available. Andy is the best host. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. As is the entire property. Ice is available in the office. It was later in the afternoon when we checked in. He directed us to a great local eating place for dinner. After dinner we returned and watched the sunset from the comfy chairs out front. I had to laugh at all the passing cars driving who knows how far to their hotel. While I sipped a cold beer on the hill. We highly recommend The View Motel to anyone. Andys positive attitude is infectious, we wish him nothing but the best.

Decent coffee, air-conditioning, and a beautiful patio. I appreciate how kept up the outside is. We will definitely be back just to hear more of your stories.

Very clean, nice rooms. Owner is so nice and accommodating! Stayed one night for a funeral and owners went above and beyond to make sure our room and stay were great. Views are spectacular too! Nice outdoor area to relax. Highly recommend this quaint little motel! Will definitely be back!

The View Motel in Elizabeth is a very clean typical 1960s-70s strip Motel, except that it has much more in the way of ambiance. 2 exceptional rural views of very rolling green pristine farmland. As beautiful as any. But when you drive in the first time you see a well lighted row of 13 doors. Each having their own live flowers, and attractive hanging ornaments by the doors. Their also is an old Farmall iron wheeled tractor in front and a recent antique cast iron phone booth from Scotland. Very neat. Being restored by the owner who is a history buff. He researched the booth & found it had been in honor of a Scottish king.|In addition the beds were clean & comfortable. All the basics of a classic strip motel.
