The Shamrock

The first room smelled so bad. It smelled like weed. Went to tell the front desk. He moved us to another room not before he sprayed it all over yes it helped a little but the smell came back. We were so tired we decided to stay but it was bad. I would give it a 5 star if it didnt smell badly.

I am unsure why the review above was "1" star but that is NOT accurate. I travel for a living and stay 160 nights a year in hotels and this was a very pleasant surprise. I booked last minute and it was available and when I saw old pictures I was terrified. However the hotel has been remodeled from top to bottom, modern, clean, awesome staff, great Wi-fi, hot water and clean modern bathrooms. DO NOT let the area surrounding you put you off the hotel. If you are tired of spending twice as much at the name brand hotels, try this one! I had a wonderful stay and will use this hotel in the future when I return to the Chicagoland area.

Everything about this hotel was well managed. Check-in was quick and smooth, and the staff explained everything clearly. The facilities were clean and modern. I would gladly stay here again in the future

Shamrock Hotel. Not too happy with my stay. I got to the hotel, check in was quick and simple. Open the door to my room and was immediately blasted with the smell of stale cigarette smoke. It seriously smelled like an ashtray in there (mind you, the room was non-smoking.) There was no remote for the TV, but the nice lady at front desk had one for me, so that was alright. Wi-fi did not reach my room unless I sat up against the door to outside. Shower water pressure was not good. Apparently the owners live in the upper most part of the hotel? I heard a lot of stomping above my room. I went to move my car later in the night so it was closer to the set of stairs outside of my room. I get in my car and the new clerk who wasnt there at my check in, came out and started to yell at me for par

RUN AWAY NOW; thank me later. If Zero stars were an option I’d consider the review more accurate. The Shamrock is a motel in an incredibly depressed part of town. The door to my room had one lock only which made it too accessible. I did not feel safe. There were ashes and a stain on the bathroom sink where a cigarette or joint burned out. I could hear the people in the office from my bathroom/bedroom as if we were separated by cardboard. The room stunk of stale ash and sadness. I gathered my belongings and split in the middle of the night; the sounds of the street, sirens, yelling incessant. Would not recommend for anyone. Adults traveling with other adults, children, solo travelers, pets, exhausted long haul truckers or cockroaches. The worst I’ve ever see .
