If you want to be disappointed despite beautiful views, the Pridwin Hotel restaurant is the place to go. We visited for lunch in mid-October with another couple. The service was shockingly bad. Our waiter forgot to put in our order for 25 minutes, and when I asked where the food was, he was flummoxed. The manager apologized but did nothing to fix the situation. When the dishes finally arrived, three out of four were completely wrong—shrimp served to a vegan, for example. The manager offered to comp the meal, but my concern was simply receiving the food we ordered. The bartender, manager, and waiter were all incompetent. I’ve been here before under previous ownership, and nothing has changed. I thought maybe they'd be a little less arrogant under new management and perhaps provide a good d

I booked two rooms for two nights for my daughter’s baby moon for the midweek escape. It was truly perfect. I had taken the kids here when they were little and now it’s renovated perfectly. They retained the old charm and the rooms are spacious and really beautiful. The bathrooms are lovely with plenty of hot water and great water pressure. We could not find a single thing we didn’t love. The lounge chairs by the beach and pool were great and the service was exceptional in every way. The bbq was fantastic and the dinner at the restaurant was excellent don’t miss the crab cake! The beds were super comfy and the rooms had plenty of great lighting as well as drawers, closet space and even a steamer. The nook was a favorite spot for us. The breakfast was excellent and there is plent

We stayed at Baron’s Cove for our anniversary and visited sister property, Pridwin, for the day. While we loved Baron’s Cove, we regretted not staying at Pridwin. The hotel is darling and the setting is perfect. We felt like we were in what family summer camp was once upon a time. We enjoyed time at the pool and bar and everyone we encountered was outgoing and upbeat. Our drinks were great and the view from the bar area peaceful. We will visit next time we are in New York. I highly recommend this charming spot!

Went for a long weekend mid-August. Stayed in a cottage--problem the picture on the web-site shows nice view of the water. What it doesn't show is a large swimming pool in the foreground--essentially in front of your deck. The pool is crowded and noisy-not helped by the constant blaring of music so that there is no tranquil experience of being on Shelter Island. Definitely would request one of the rooms away from the pool. . Restaurant the Terrace was only Ok- nice views but food was at best average for the high prices They charge an exorbitant " resort fee" which is 10% of the cost of your room ( pay attention they don't make it clear when you book), What you get is fairly basic--the pool with chairs but no cushions, plastic kayaks and a few paddle boards.

We made a last minute decision to visit Shelter Island for a couple of nights. I wanted something with some activity possibilities. I was worried having such a late reservation that we might not get a room with a great view. No issue. The people here were very professional. This resort reminds me a little bit of Sagamore in Lake George although the Pridwin is more updated. The room was very nice. The views are amazing from the rooms, the lawn, the restaurant, and the pool. The pool staff was attentive. The soft music at the pool was enjoyable. No fighting for a pool lounger. Many activities include free kayaks, tennis, lawn games, fishing, Breakfast including an omelet station are included with the room. The dinner we had was adequate- my wife had Scallops which was good. I have to
