The Plainfield Inn

The only positives are location and cleanliness of room. 1st thing we were met with was the sound of a vicious dog. Actually was preparing to defend myself until I realized the dog was in the office and banging and scratching at the door. Really scary. The same dog woke us up several times through the night with its barking. The stairs are killers. Old, narrow, and steep. That alone will keep me from returning. The room itself was extremely uncomfortable as it had one office type chair to sit in. No other seating. Lighting is terrible. No lamps, just a few dim overheads. If you wanted to read, you had to sit in bathroom where the best light was. Trying to watch tv was a joke. You had to follow a list of instructions to get it to work. What ever happened to simple. We stayed at the Plainfield Inn for our wedding at the Sanctuary and had an absolutely wonderful experience! Booking the entire S Building was definitely the right move—each room was clean, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and having a private bathroom in every room was such a nice touch. Our guests loved it just as much as we did. The staff was kind and welcoming, and Justin was especially fantastic to work with—helpful, responsive, and easygoing throughout the process. The only thing that could’ve made it even better would be a full-sized kitchen fridge, but everything else was truly perfect!

This place is spotless and seemed newly renovated. LOVE the decor! It's in a fantastic location. It's walking distance to downtown Plainfield. The manager Justin was very accommodating! Highly recommend this inn!!

My daughter had her bachelorette celebration in Plainfield on Saturday, July 19. Some of us stayed at The Plainfield Inn and were so happy with the beauty of the place and the cleanliness of it. Everything is updated and pristine! The beds are comfortable. Justin was very kind to get our group in the same building! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay within walking distance of downtown shops and bars. It will surpass your expectations!

This was our second time staying at The Plainfield Inn on 6-28-25, and I will say we had a much better experience this time. Very homey and clean, updated rooms and such a convenient location to all the shops and restaurants downtown, not to mention how much more affordable it is compared to chain hotels. We would be happy to stay here again in the future.
