The Opal House

We discovered a true gem in the Opal house during our trip to Snowshoe ski resort. We stayed in the Sapphire and Blush Retreat suite, and it was immediately clear how much care, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that went into the renovation of the interior design. The house is absolutely beautiful. It gave me some really good ideas for our future retirement home in North Carolina. The Keurig coffee bar and snacks were a thoughtful and much appreciated touch. We highly recommend the Opal house and would happily stay here again.

My husband and I have rented a 2 bed suite at the Opal House in Low Moor several times. It is Suite #5 and is called the Sapphire and Blush Retreat. We prefer the 2 bedroom suite so our son and grandson can spend the night too and be on the same floor. If it is already rented out, then we rent 2 different suites with ours on the main floor and theirs on the 2nd floor. All of the suites at the Opal House are fabulous and decorated so beautifully. We also love the common areas, both inside and outside. The electric fireplaces are super cool. There are 2 great kitchens, one on each side of the Opal House that have everything we need. We were planning a trip to the area for my 50th High School reunion and to visit friends and family.  While searching for a place to stay I noticed this boutique hotel “The Opal House”, located just off interstate 64 between Clifton Forge and Covington.  The location was perfect and the pictures looked nice, so we booked the “Marigold Room” for our 3 day visit.  As we pulled up to the parking lot we immediately noticed the quality of the restoration of this property.  The name “Opal House” suits it well as it is truly a gem in the heart of the Alleghany Highlands. I had an absolutely delightful time staying at The Opal House in Low Moor. The attention to detail in the décor and the luxurious feel of the space don’t even begin to do it justice compared to the photos; it’s even more beautiful in person. So much love and care was put into the decor! The coffee and hot chocolate bar was such a thoughtful and wonderful amenity during my stay, and truly made the experience feel extra special. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will definitely return again. Highly recommend!

The Opal House is lovely. My most recent stay was during Fall Festival weekend in room #6, The Maplewood Suite, and their website has much better pictures than the one I’ve posted here. Did you forget your toothbrush? No worries, they’ve got you covered. They also provided a selection of pillow types (I used them all.) I think it is the nicest location to stay near Clifton Forge, and Mandaly is quick to respond to any questions or concerns. I will be returning to visit again and happily stay at Opal House.
