If you are lucky enough to find yourself in the magical place of Frenchtown, then consider yourself blessed to experience the awesome-ness that is The National. This place is something special that you only find when the stars have aligned. The owner of the establishment is by far one of the coolest, most professional, attentive and incredibly cool person you could hope to meet. Her employees, especially Linda, are legendary with their service, friendliness and professionalism. The drinks are epic, thr food is divine and the vibe is spot-on.
Frenchtown an ideal location for Bucks County/Hunterdon County River Valley trip. Charming cozy town with beautiful canal trail, the world class Honey Moon bakery, Early Bird Coffee, Finnbar (cozy barroom and quality local cuisine) and The National Hotel and barroom with japanese cuisine. I think the best 'value' in the region (starting at approx $100+ less than other favorites like Black Bass Inn and Bridgeton on the Delaware). Wonderful for the holidays with a locals in the know bar and restaurant vibe. The rooms have two standout qualities worth mentioning - great mattress and bedding ... and the best water pressure you could want for.
The National Hotel is a great spot in Frenchtown, NJ. I've enjoyed several meals and cocktail sessions at the bar. The craft cocktail program is on-point, with delicious cocktails like the Pecan Old-Fashioned, and the "Full Monte" served up by friendly and attentive bartenders. The National also stocks a deeper whiskey collection, with some excellent Japanese and Scottish bottles. My favorite live music act is the jazz ensemble that plays Brazilian bossa nova particularly well. The food menu - which skews towards Asian selections - is quite tasty. My one constructive criticism - the chef needs to add more tofu to the coconut - curry entree. Usually there's just a couple of small pieces.
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST PLACE. The owner is incredibly warm and makes sure her customers are happy. The rooms are also fantastic! They are clean and cozy. Also, the food is just as impressive. The experience of the live music in the bar just makes for such a great night. Would highly recommend!!!!!
Wife and I took a night out in Frenchtown. We love the river towns and its been a while since doing an overnight. Very modernized establishment that stays true to its historic charm. When we came in, the bar was hopping but we arrived already fed so passed on it. As loud as the band and crowd was, we didn't even hear a drum beat in our room like I was expecting for an old hotel. We did have a little issue with the heat as it seemed like the split unit wasn't working, but when we came back to our room, the hotel manager put in a nice space heater that warmed it up quickly like an easy bake oven! That's mark of good service to me!
