We stayed in the Maplewood Hotel while we visited lilydale. It is in the town of Lily Dale and an easy walk to all of the meetings. The managers were very nice and! our room was sweet! They have a big porch on the front of the hotel where you can sit and rock in big rocking chairs with a beautiful view. It is close to the beach and the auditorium.
I visited Lily Dale Assembly in June 2025 for a week that coincided with the Summer festival. I stayed on the 3rd floor (without an air conditioner) of the Maplewood Hotel in the midst of an infamous "heat dome" that had temperatures soaring past 90 degrees, remaining in the low 80s well into the night. ||The room was small but charming, and yes, the heat (even with a non-oscillating fan) made the experience memorable and sometimes irritating. That said, since the whole point of Lily Dale is spiritualism and healing, I decided to act as if I had paid for a therapeutic sauna and walked around in a pleasant daze for four days.||Imo, this is not a hotel for families, given the small size of the rooms and the lack of amenities. When I next visit Lily Dale, I will try to book at Angel House, wh
If you come in with high expectations, you will be aggravated and disappointed. I was aware of the maplewood’s “charm” and set my bar pretty low. The room was definitely an interesting experience with the shower in the main sleeping area, lack of A/C and the creaky beds. But it was bearable and gave us a place of respite when needed. The common areas were peaceful and the fresh coffee each morning was greatly appreciated. Maplewood provided a nice, inexpensive getaway, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re used to or expecting high-end stays. The only thing that I would have liked to see improved was the fixtures in our room, the sink was literally falling off the wall, as well as the Toilet Paper holder.
The hotel itself is very old and interesting. We expected and appreciated the historic features of the building. What we did not anticipate was the overwhelming smell of mothballs and the cobwebs that were all over our room. Or the spring mattress that felt like they were kept from the 1800s just to give us the full effect. |We were given room 2 on the bottom floor. It is a small room with two twin beds, small private bath, and a window air conditioning unit. The window had a large crack but it was OK because it was taped over. |Let’s get back to the smell. The odor was so strong that we had to check out a day early because we just could not take it anymore. When we got home every item we had stored them mothballs. I had to wash everything twice to remove the smell. Even the towels we were
The Maplewood is the only hotel within the gates of Lily Dale, albeit there are several guest houses. A friend and I stayed here for the first time last month. ||The room and bathroom were tiny and basic but clean. We were on the first floor which had window a/c (which didn't quite fit and left open areas around it) and a private bathroom. NOTE that most rooms do NOT have either. ||No TV. No elevator. Pleasant staff. There was a very cozy adjacent communal area with microwave, refrigerators, toaster, and coffee. The charm is in the age and history of the building, the best front porch, the lobby, close lake, and the peace and quiet of Lily Dale at night.
